The term “clean” or “natural” is not regulated, so there unfortunately is a lot of greenwashing. For example, skincare companies will state their product is silicone free (a type of liquid plastic) while not divulging that their product contains other types of liquid plastics.

So what products are actually “clean”? We define clean skincare as products free of chemicals known to be harmful to human health, or highly controversial chemicals. Luckily, non-profits like the Environmental Working Group (EWG), help clarify what products are “clean” with their EWG Verified mark. MDERM is EWG verified, meaning we follow the strictest ingredient standards.

When surveyed, most individuals admit they apply their moisturizer once a day in the morning. However, it’s just as important to apply a moisturizer at bedtime. Why? Well, while we sleep, a significant amount of water evaporates from our skin, leaving it dehydrated. Applying a moisturizer at bedtime helps seal in moisture, preventing water loss. Secondly, it is important to apply antioxidants to your skin at night. Free radicals generated during the day (from UV light, blue light, air pollution, stress, etc.) contribute to dry skin conditions. While we sleep, our skin goes into recovery mode, repairing this free-radical damage. Antioxidants not only fight free radicals, but also help with this repair process.

MDERM not only effectively moisturizes your skin, but it also contains numerous antioxidant ingredients, including moringa, a powerhouse of antioxidants!

Short answer: A LOT! So much, It’s actually difficult to comprehend.

39 million tons of liquid plastic are produced each year. That’s the equivalent of filling 39 football stadiums to the brim with liquid plastic! Unfortunately, millions of tons of these plastics are dumped into our environment every year. These plastics don't biodegrade, but instead accumulate in our oceans, drinking water, and food chains.

These plastics are a key ingredient in 9 out of 10 of the world's leading skincare brands.

Our moisturizer is safe for sensitive skin. We have conducted extensive third party clinical testing to ensure that our product is safe and does not irritate patients with sensitive skin. All our products are reviewed by dermatologists.

The main goal of a moisturizer is to pull water into the top layer of your skin, the epidermis, and keep it there. To do this, moisturizers require ingredients called humectants. Now, humectants can be synthetic chemicals (that is they don’t exist in nature), or they can be derived from plants. Moringa contains multiple humectants. As a result, in two clinical studies, moringa leaf extract was shown to markedly improve skin hydration, and the skin’s ability to hold on to water resulting in decreased water loss and decreased dryness. Next, moringa is also an antioxidant superstar, rich in multiple antioxidants including vitamin A, C and E as well as flavonoids and phenolic acids. In addition, moringa contains unique compounds that activate the production of antioxidants within our own skin cells. Clinical studies also confirm moringa’s ability to soothe and calm dry, stressed skin.

Although we typically say that MDERM moisturizer should be used on your hands, body, and feet, it can also be used on your face.
